PRP and regenerative aesthetics: a consultation-led explainer
What PRP is for skin and hair, how it differs from polynucleotides and exosome marketing, and how Aesthetics by KK uses regenerative treatments in a plan, including with Morpheus8 and Endolaser.
In short
PRP (platelet-rich plasma) uses a concentration of your own platelets, prepared from a blood sample, and delivered where the plan says: skin, scalp, or as an adjunct after energy-based treatment.
It is regenerative in intent. It is not magic blood. Results vary with indication, how the sample is prepared, and whether the problem is even one PRP can influence.

Why regenerative search is up
Patients are asking for treatments that “work with the skin” rather than add a new shape. That brief can mean PRP, polynucleotides, skin boosters, or a device. It can also mean you do not need an injectable this year.
Save Face and other UK safety voices have spent 2026 pushing the same point: as products get more biological, governance matters more, not less. Exosomes in particular are marketed harder than they are standardised. If a clinic cannot tell you source, processing, and why it is appropriate for you, pause.
We may discuss PRP or exosome-style protocols where they fit our governance. We will not sell a vial because a conference stand called it the future.
What happens in a PRP visit
Typical steps, after you are screened as suitable:
- Medical history, including blood disorders, medications, pregnancy, and infection risk.
- A blood draw.
- Processing to concentrate platelets (the kit and method matter; “PRP” is a category, not one recipe).
- Application or injection into the agreed area.
Hair protocols are not the same as a face protocol. Our list says “PRP inc hair” because scalp work is a common reason people book. Timelines for hair are measured in months of repeated sessions, not a weekend glow.
PRP versus polynucleotides versus boosters
- Your own growth-factor concentrate: PRP. Not a substitute for filler volume.
- Bio-stimulatory skin quality: polynucleotides. Not a brow lift.
- Hydration and surface glow: skin boosters. Not a treatment for loose skin.

Combined with devices
PRP is often timed around energy treatments because the story patients want is “repair plus stimulus”. That can be reasonable. It is also how packages get sold without a diagnosis.

Those are for people whose assessment matches a multi-step plan. They are not a default because regenerative is trending.

Who may not be suitable
Not everyone should have a blood-derived treatment. Anticoagulants, certain platelet disorders, active infection, and pregnancy or breastfeeding are examples of issues that can stop or delay a plan. Your clinician decides with a history, not a web form.
Frequently asked questions
Is PRP the same as a “vampire facial”?
That nickname usually means PRP applied after needling. The nickname is marketing. Ask what is actually done to the skin and how the plasma is prepared.
How soon will hair look different?
If PRP is appropriate for thinning, you are planning a course and a review, not a single miracle session. Underlying causes (thyroid, iron, medication, pattern hair loss) still need a medical view.
Can PRP replace filler under the eyes?
